Specific Scale

How would you go about insuring your ZTool is at a specific scale?

I ask because certain things in Max, like lighting and certain shaders are very scale-sensitive, and I want to be able to maintain the proper scale when I pass assets between ZBrush and Max.

Generally, objects should reimport at the same scale you exported them from in your external scene. If not, there may be I/O settings in one or both programs that need adjusted.

A test scene from your external program should quickly verify is this is an issue or not. Are you having a specific problem?

They do, but what I was wondering is if there is a way to scale a ZTool with subtools and subdivision levels to a specific size in ZBrush, so when you bring it in to another app, it’s already the appropriate scale.

Currently I’m having to rescale my geometry WAY down in Max every time I make a tweak to it in ZBrush and bring it back in to Max. I’m using the Align tool in Max, which makes pretty short work of it, but I would still like to know if there’s a way to do it in ZBrush, so I don’t have to rescale every time in Max.

Ideally I would have either started my base mesh in Max or brought my base mesh into Max, so I would have an opportunity to scale it properly before I started subdividing it and adding subtools in ZBrush. I didn’t though, so I’m looking for a way to resolve this in ZBrush.

ian, scott, and myself have been having the same issue. the 3.1 windows has less of a problem, but the zbrush 3.2 mac side - to max win side. now thats the beast. the same box is now -2392%

I’m using 3.1 Win, and there’s like a 97% difference in scale. At least I know I’m not the only one up against this. Again, the single biggest savior has been the Align tool in Max.
