i’ve always, ALWAYS preferred to zoom and pan my models than scale and move them over the document… i do scale up a lot, but i use pan more than move regardless


  • 3.5r2
  • hold down spacebar, i get the quick select menu
  • CTRL+hover over pan icon, and it says that you can hold down spacebar to pan the doc, but it pulls up quickselect instead
  • assign spacebar as the pan hotkey and it says that is already assigned and again, if you hold down spacebar, you get quickselect
  • manually type in the assignment in the hotkey txt file and it still pulls up the quickselect menu
for the love of pete,
assigning the spacebar as the pan/scoll hotkey works in 3.0, but not in 3.5 and i’m about to rip my hair out

You’re right. Spacebar won’t give up the quick menu in 3.5. I’ve not managed to get any custom keys to stick there without weirdness ( I like to pan with the spacebar too).

Hopefully this will be fixed in a subsequent update, but I don’t think there’s anything to be done right now.

you guys seriously couldn’t fix this issue in r3? seriously???
good grief.
at least make an option to disable the quickmenu completely… something.
sheesh.

and to add insult to injury… if you assign pan to another key (i actually got “`” to work), pan the doc, and then release, the tool then autofits to whatever your doc view is at the time… i.e. if you go from full to half, pan, release, the tool then autofits to half.

Yeah seriously, please make it so that the spacebar hotkey can truly be customized. This does seem impossible right now.
