excellent, I still haven’t gotten over your David model yet, and here you deliver another masterpiece!

Did you render the hair seperately? Whenever I try to render with the hair I get an ERROR: Cannot allocate memory :frowning:

It’s some mental ray error. I have 2GB of ram and it gives me problems.

And when I try to render just the hair as a pass, it doesn’t render it. Can you please help me :frowning: please. Anyone.

Sebcesoir - thx for the input. I want to use light pink color for the lips, the shader is giving me hard time to adjust the color :confused:

voodoomonkey - I used Zbrush to model the face, I used the base mesh from natalie/david. This one by far the hardest one :(, those smooth surface really killing me :angry:

x-titan - yes, I did 2 renders and combine them, but they are not rendered as passes. I render one image with the hairs + medium poly head + no eyes, and the other one no hair but complete face, then combine them

If that won’t do, maybe the hair is too much :(. Or perhaps try using lower res texture? Last night I tried to render the first one on 1800x1350, and somehow it works (1 gig ram), though it took a good 13 hours to render :(.

If you have any more suggestion, that would be very nice to hear :slight_smile:

Outstanding work. The character likeness is SPOT on. Only one crit with the rendering. I really like the challenges you’ve set out… reconstructing specific shots and lighting. However, each one has the same issue, the specular shading is nearly invisible.

Her real skin is much more specular in each shot, so you could stand to work on that. You might even do a seperate pass with a different shader.

However, if you’re using the fast skin SSS MR shader, there is a lot of control in there for specular shading. I often speed up my tests by using a second SSS shader with all features off (or black) except for the one I’m testing. So you can really work on your hilites by themselves… and not bother doing all the other expensive calculations. Anyway, just a suggestion. Great stuff.

Its cool that someone has the wisdom of giving some critics on a peace that is allmost perfect. I really like you’re models, I saw it on CG and I was amased.

MrHopper - thx for the crits, I never try to do the SSS test one by one like that, but it seems really usefull :slight_smile: . About the spec, I reduced them on purpose to create a more smooth/make-up feel skin hehe :smiley:

Wim - thx, but ofcourse this is far from perfect, that’s why it’s really nice to hear some crits/suggestion.

anyway, I got a request for a print, so I had to do a quick update to make it look okay. So this one is still not finished yet :slight_smile:

looks good, needs a little more color in the lips though.

add some very subtle imperfections to the skin texureand add a subtle slight bump map on those imperfections for even more realism
