I would like to thank Ben, Chad, and everyone who made the video and the release of The Nexus possible. The Nexus looks very promising however, I also have been experiencing some problems. It appears to be working for the most part, but it crashes when I go to output the passes separately. I am running maya x86 on xp64. Hey Nwar!, we miss you in #maya.
Hey I was just curious if anyone could help me with the nexus shader problem. I recently purchased the Character Texturing for Production DVD, and my problem is that in the DVD it skips over the displacement export part, it just says "now were going to import the displacement map kaz(?) generated. . . "
No Disrespect what so ever to Brian Neal - your dvd is amazing, im just new to maya and having problems figuring out exactly what settings were used to export the displacement map. All the maps I have generated in Displacement Exporter fail while trying to connect to the nexus. I’ve been trying to use the default export options as well as quick code DE-LBEK-EAEAEA-R16 and R32
If anyone can help out with a brief explanation or a few pictures - that would help me out tremendously! Thanks in advance!
Ps. - Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I just figured since its the topic about the dvd this would be the appropriate place.
Hi,
Just wanted to show my support for this shader. Just watched the DVD today and i’d LOVE to get this working so we can use it in our pipeline.
I’d also like to second the request for a 64bit version for maya 2008.
We are running xp 64 and have both maya 2008 32bit and maya 2008 64bit on each machine.
Will we be able to get this plugin working on the 32bit versions of maya, even though we’re on 64bit windows?
thanks again!
Mike
yeah a 64bit v would be great , i allways stumble across plugins and apps that look great and then find out there only 32 bit , ive been use’n x64 for years now and allthough everything runs better , the wait on apps to come out 64 kills me , the wait for zbrush to change to 64bit felt like a lifetime , i hope this one comes out soon ,
Great work !!! small_orange_diamond

Could anyone explain how to compose all these passes together??
I’m having trouble getting Maya light linking to work on the nexus shader.I have made sure the object and shading group aren’t link in the light linkign editor but it seems to make no difference on objects with the nexus shader on, could anyone point me in the right direction?
cheers
Flawless work man! Especially what you have accomplished for Underworld Evolutions.
hi…
is there a nexus version for maya2009 sp1a…?
the latest version here is crashing all the time…
the nexus shader I linked up was a hidden page so it was probably still in beta form and they didn’t fix it completely. From what they say on their actual site right now, the lite version is still under construction. Just be patient.
hi,all
Could anyone tell me how to install this nexus plugin in maya…
Here you can see all Extracted files…
it’s already been a year lol
Hey Ben,
Happy New Year!
Well, I’m finally experimenting with Zbrush. Very excited! Wish me luck! Oh and I’m finally having a look at your DVD. Great stuff! Thanks for inspiring me!
Chat soon!

Awesome!
Holly shh… this looks absolute stunning !!! I am now looking for a tutorial to make human skins but could not find a real good one. I cant wait for the DvD and the Tutorial ! Buddy!
It’s a great tutorial. But I was pretty bummed out that the shader he spends most of the time working on isn’t available to the public.
Does anyone know if the nexus shader is supported in Maya 2010?
Nope and they wont continue to develop it for the cg community from what Ive heard
I can preview passes, beauty and output but I cannot get all separetly by batch render:/ I have checked ‘multiply passes by control factors’ and I rendering without any changes with Render layers. Can somebody tell me what I’m doing wrong? I use maya 2008.
face structure is really cool and wanna see some more facial expressions. cool!
