Some of my subtools don't accept any material change

Hello alltogether,

I have a full character made up of 31 subtools inside ZBrush4. What I want to do now is to give them all their own materials. So I select each subtool and the desired material making sure the “M”-button is clicked. Then I click Color:FillObject and that’s just working fine … for 29 of the subtools. Two of them are striking (one shoe and the suitcase) and refuse accepting any material. I can see them with the desired material applied, but once I change the currently selected material they change along.

I tried it a hundred times, with SubToolMaster, with Polypaint:Colorize on/off, with “Mrgb” on, with ZBrush and the Computer restarted, but still they don’t keep any material. They also don’t change the displayed material in the Subtool palette. Apart from that I cannot see anything that makes these two any different. They also definitly DON’T have a texture applied.

I’d be so glad if someone could tell me how to force a material onto them, or even better: what it might be going on with the shoe and the suitcase to refuse my will  .

are they masked?

No, definitly not masked.

Also strange: The suitcase at least accepts a new color (Rgb), but the shoe even refuses to keep any color.

Maybe there is a way to export and import both in order to reset all their settings and attributes but without them losing their subdivision levels? Is there?
