some news on AO2

Hi guys,

With E3 going on I’m finally able to show some new screenshots of my work done on the main characters for the game Army of Two. I did all the details work in Zbrush 2. I should be able to show some Ztools soon.
( I can’t wait to have other screenshots showing the other characters  )

Technically very good work for sure, congratulations!

The disappointing thing from my point of view is that it seems there there isn’t one single game developer left who has the curage to develop something creativ, something that has not just guns and killing in many different ways as a topic.
Very disappointing and boring.
But well, as I said. That’s just my opinion. Technically your work is very good.

First, allow me to say what excellent work this is! I love what I’ve seen of this game so far and will get it for my PS3 day one!

Now, as for the quote above, there are tons of games that don’t involve killing or guns. You should broaden your research and experiences before making sweeping statements like that, as you run the risk of insulting the people responsible for creating these games, as well as making yourself look a bit silly. That’s my opinion. Little Big Planet, Nintendogs, sports titles…there is a lot out there that doesn’t involve killing.

Okay…back to the topic at hand:

Did you work only in Zbrush or was Mudbox used at all? Were the textures done in ZBrush too or was Photoshop used? What was the main modeling app for the base and ingame models? Anything you can answer without violating NDA please let us know!

Oli4D: Please limit comments in an artist’s thread to the artwork itself. If you wish to diverge into an issue or debate, then by all means post a new thread in the Community forum.

Thanks.

Superb job man! I love there design:+1: :+1: :+1:

As always amazing stuff from yuo…Always get inspired looking at your models and works :+1: :+1:

Damn, I love guns and killing games—so this one looks fantastic to me! i’m especially loving the screenshot of the monster clothesline that dude is delivering. Beautiful work koala! i assume there’s some high res model beautys that go along with these?

Looking good Koala, looks like fun too play too. I like the different materials and the weatered look of their equipment. Is there any moving material on the internet? Would be interesting to see how they are in motion. I’m sure it’ll be around soon enough.

Great work.

Thanks guys, I’m glad you like it.
All base meshes were done in 3dsmax and all the detailling work in Zbrush 2.
For the textures I used Zapplink and photoshop, using the displacement maps as base for my diffuses.

to see it in action you can take a look at these links :

what other programs do you use besides, zbrush or are you allowed to say?

Great work, im soo ready for this game to come out/

Ah. Cool. Thanks for the info. I was thinking it was Maya. I know in the end it doesn’t matter, it’s the result that does. I missed out on the Zapplink stuff, didn’t get a full copy of ZBrush until version 3. Using displacements as a base for a diffuse map sounds really handy. Hope we’ll get similar tools for ZB3. Thanks again and wonderful work!
