Some new work

Awesome work as always :+1:
Too bad about the videos, was looking forward to them, but will make sure to study these till my eyes fall out instead :stuck_out_tongue:

dude awsome

Speechless. fantastic

awesome work in here man!

So are the renders of the Dracula, Scary alien, Crazy beast etc. zbrush renders or mental ray? Did you use paintovers for the eyes etc? Im a bit confused lol. beautiful work.

Thanks for the comments  Most of them are zbrush renders done with different materials and then I played with them on psd with different layers.
Eyes are added separately.
Cheers!

I do love the fiddley bits.

Simply mind blowing detail and realism. I am a fan of your work. Inspired and frustrated at the same time :stuck_out_tongue: You are awesome. I am looking forward to the video you put together to see how you work. Its fascinating. :+1:

Aberrant: thanks for the very nice comments! I’ll try to record a video one of these days, possibly before wednesday.
Cheers!

Hi Man - The Magic Hand! How are you? Fantastic work! Rulez!

Great work. You have the macabre down pat.

I’m an Art Director at Crystal Dynamics and I’d like to hire you for some contract character design/modeling. Please contact me if you’re interested.

Cheers,

Still great work! Realy outstanding.
I have a small question: you said you draw each of this tiny details manually. I tried this technique on a small patch and it works, but if I use the same technique on a highpoly head, it slows down. And if I use the lazymouse funktion, I lose all the sketchy freedom. Do you have to deal with the same problems? I am using 8gRAM so this shouldn´t be the problem. Do you have a tip?

Thank you in advance and thanks vor sharing your perfect work with us!
Kind Regards
Hilmar

BrianHortonArt: Check your email

DerLandvogt: Thanks a lot for your kind comments. I’m really flattered.
When I sculpt small details I usually hide all of the mesh except the small part I will be detailing (can be an eyesocket, a piece of the nose, a piece of the mouth) and go on like this. I rarely detail an entire high rez head because as you just said, it slows down.
Zbrush 3.1 doesn’t burn more than 4gb of ram (at least it’s what I heard around) but hopefully this new release will.
Regarding the lazy brush, to be honest I never used it because it just gives straight strokes and has a tiny amount of delay which turns me nuts
I’d say you could build up masses with the clay brush as much as you can, then define with the standard brush and then play with inflate and pinch.
It’s a pretty typical workflow but works very well and you have a lot of control.
Well, now with the new brushes in the new ZB release we’ll go crazy anyway! Planar, noise etc…sweetness.
Hope I’ve been helpful. If not, let me know and I will try to be more clear

Cheers!

Thanks a lot. This was very helpful.
If I turn off the lazy mouse my strokes tend to be not as smooth as yours.
Especially if I draw very fast, my lines get those bad dots. Couldnt change the spacing between the dots :frowning:

Thanks again for your help!
Hilmar

Go to “Stroke -> Mouse Input Average Count” and set it all the way up to 8.
You won’t have the dot effect anymore
It will suck a bit of your memory but you’ll have very controlled lines.
Also, to prevent anyway the dotting effect, use the lasso tool and select just a small portion of what you want to detail, hiding the rest.
If you have other questions do not hesitate to contact me.
Cheers!

Fabrizio

Your work is truly breathtaking. Are you sculpting in HD mode or do you just sculpting by normal sub divide?

I hope I can sleep tonight. Those creatures are so creepy and the detail is amazing. Great work!:o

mokthemagicman: Thanks for the nice words! Much appreciated.
No it’s not HD geometry, just normal sculpting. I might try to use HD for a few tests though.
Will keep you posted.
Thanks again

Fabrizio

im such a huge fan of your stuff. always inspiring .post more
cheers,

Amazing work! There is a very chilling quality to the faces. I love how all the character’s eyes just seem to pop- they look very life-like, even in black and white. Fantastic! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
