wow. some scary stuff man lol!!! Very good though.
PolyHertz: sorry for the late reply, I’ve been crazy busy
My detail technique it’s pretty simple, basically I work as I’d work with real clay.
I start blocking out the facial features with the clay brush, also very quickly.
When I have the basic facial forms blocked out, I subdivide the mesh and start adding smaller “snakes” of mass with the clay brush and smooth the intersections.
Eventually I evaluate the surface of the skin and I start to ask myself which kind of skin will I prepare for the maquette.
After this step I just use the standard brush along with the clay tubes brush to make the little details.
One of my “secret” techniques basically involves drawing some raw lines on the face (or body) and then inflate the borders following the wrinkle flows with the claytubes brush.
I don’t know if I am really able to explain this correctly with just words =/
If you didn’t understand, I’ll try to make a sculpting video so you can see.
MayorFuhrer: I just downloaded some texture sheets from the internet and played with them in photoshop with layers. It’s actually a piece of cake to make them. Probably takes like a couple of mins.
jjvdb15: hahaha thanks I really loved working with Dominic on that design.
Wow.Very Intresting. I love all these work.Really great job.
wicked work man, did u use mainly brushes for the detailing or alphas or both dude? what is your workflow for detail adding?
I think I understand what you’re saying, but sculpting vids are always welcome
jimbo1001: I’ll record a sculpting session so you can see I usually never use alpha maps besides some rare cases.
I prefer sculpting everything by hand since I have the full control over the wrinkleflows.
Also, alpha maps sometimes tend to distort too much the masses.
Now I’m pretty busy but as soon as I’ll get some free time I’ll record something
PolyHertz: same for you!
hi digital freaky ,
i am new to z brush ,would plz tell me how did u put wrinkles on the character in the third image from top in this post (on the legs)
plz tell me the technique if u could spare some time
thanks
leonardo_in
very nice details
leonardo_in: As I previously said, I’ll try to make some videos even though these days I’m pretty locked busy. Doing some photografic exhibitions in Tokyo and they are eating up all my time. My wife is even pissed cause I get back home in the morning
Anyways, I can give you some tips.
There’s nothing really special I do to make those wrinkles and the method I use is pretty similar to the method that I use when sculpting with wed clay.
As I said on the previous posts, I usually try to use “snakes” of digital clay (using clay brush) to build a rational base structure and then I just sculpt some sharp lines that will help me following the wrinkleflows following the muscles.
Again, not sure this makes sense written in words but it’s really not a big deal at all
Cheers!
The creepyness is unmatched. This is really nice. i love the detail level. small_orange_diamond

Hey, this is one of the best threads ive seen in a while. You gotta upload more.
these are great! really creepy and cool. Amazing detail too, love all the veins and decayed bits.
thanks
thanks for ur time and tip i appriciate it …will try to use this technique although just understood a lil bit of it but i think it is enough to get me started …plz try to up load the videos as soon as possible …thanks again
Since I really have no time for making videos these days I decided to prepare a quick bunch of examples of how I make those details and very thin skin wrinkles.
The thing I doodled doesn’t have any sense creature wise. I took a 3D sphere and started to play with it trying to make it look organic. It may look like something alien but really has totally no sense
Basically the idea is to try and show the masses and structure underneath the skin sculpting very thin flops of skin that overlap where’s the mass and stretch when the mass (can be muscle or anything) goes down so that it looks very organic.
You can see it on the first image while the second one (that’s actually the profile view of the first) has different kind of shapes.
It’s actually easy to make this kind of effect, just need some practice. My advice is to use real clay to understand this perfectly.
Gotta run now for a while.
Hope this will help somehow

I love it! small_orange_diamond
