When I click on the red dot in the LightCap panel the preview is converted from a sphere to a planar display.
Is there any way to revert back to the display with the sphere without immediately closing Zbrush and re-opening the file?

Just click in the top, left corner of the preview. It will be the same spot as the big red dot in the spherical preview.
I really clicked everywhere with any thinkable alt/shift/ctrl/cmd-combination when I tried to get back – but I must have missed the right spot everytime.
Now that I know where to exactly click, it works for me, too.
