"Snap View to Mask"

Hiya.

I’m wondering if there is a tool for this, or maybe a script? If not…consider it a feature request.

What I’d like to be able to do is take a selection mask, and then “snap” the camera view to looking ‘straight on’ at that selection. Maybe with the option of using the selection mask, or perhaps the poly-frame, or group? Basically, when making a mechanical type thing…sometimes I want to place, say, a cylinder that comes out of some area. Currently, I have to maneuver the camera view to be close to ‘straight on’ at the area I want to place it. Draw the cylinder. Then start moving the view around while adjusting the transpose tool, trying to get it so that when I stretch/push the cylinder to get the right size, it’s not deforming in some uncomfortable way. Hope this makes some kind of sense. I have to run right now, but if it’s confusing, I can do a quick few screenshots to show what I’m talking about.
