Snap to Center of Character without using X Symmetry?

Greetings, I want to sculpt down the middle of a character (X=0) without having X symmetry on. With X symmetry on, the cursor snaps nicely to the center, but it sculpts doubled down the middle. With X symmetry off, there is no double sculpting, but I am unable to snap to the perfect center of the character. In Maya, you can hold “X” key to snap to the grid, and if your cursor is over the middle of the character, the thing you are working on perfectly snaps to the center, X = 0.

For example, I want to sculpt a zipper down the center of a character’s torso using IMM zipper brush. With X symmetry on, it sculpts two zippers on top of each other. With X symmetry turned off, it only sculpts one zipper like I want, but now that zipper is free to wiggle to the left and right. Is there a more precise way to do this while staying in Zbrush?

Thanks.

Welcome to ZBC.

You can draw out the zipper with symmetry on then:

  1. Turn off symmetry.
  2. Click on the curve. (The cursor should change to cyan.)

This will update the curve so that only one zipper remains. You can use the same method to change its width after adjusting the Draw Size.
