Smoothing Subdivided surface

When I bring in a model I build in Lightwave and subdivide the mesh, I often get what looks like pock marks formed by the polygons.

I’ve tried using the smoothing brush but that changes the model and actually seems to accentuate the divitssmoothing.jpg . I just want to smooth it out and get rid of these “pock marks”. Is there a way to brush over a surface and just gradually smooth out textures vs adding/subtracting clay to the model?

Secondly if you bring in a model that has sharp edges to it, is there a “global smoothing” command that you can apply to either the entire object or a masked area of the object? I saw someone demo a feature like this in Mudbox.

Sorry for the basic questions.
Thanks in advance.

those pot marks are 5 edged points. every sculpting program hates them…there is no easy fix for those, you have to go in and pull up every little dimple.

for creasing you can go to
tool>geometry>crease

it will add a creasing edge to the geo that is visable.
