Smoothing level

(I solved my last question by the way, I thought I was on a subdivision level I wasn’t, I was sure I had checked ,but when I cleared it and did it for the third time the problem relieved it’s self, I’d close the tread but it seems the admins pay specific attention to the requests for help, which is great. Knowing this I will do my best to try to keep questions to a minimum.)

In the second tutorial on making a sword, he ends it by saying, “Now I’m going to hold shift and go over the edges to make them a little more smooth”

I held shift and went over the edges (mine is on the left, the one from the video is on the right)

I’ve looked all over, the intensity slider doesn’t seem to change anything and simply making the brush smaller isn’t effective at smoothing or changing the smoothing, what kind of setting controls the amount of smothing, or how can I simply “bevel”/“smooth” the edges without ruining the model?

holding shift temporarily changes the brush to the smooth brush.

To change the intensity of smoothing when you hold shift you need to make the actual smooth brush your active brush and then change the settings for it. I like 15…but to each their own.

That way when you hold shift the Zintensity that is being used is what is on the smooth brush…so you get less of an effect. I hope that helps.

If you find that amount is too much you can change the settings of the smooth brush to what you find is a good default value and then save the brush over the old one. (make a copy of the brush before you do this so you can revert if you change something that you don’t know how to get back.)

Thank you! I can now smooth without everything looking like a blimp. Thanks!
