Smoothing facets

hi guys i have round flat coin like shape with protrusions in the surface that are concentric with the coin shape, problem is when i dynamesh i get these bumpy facets when i view it at an angle. What tool can i use to smoothing this out without looking the sharpness i have in my edges?

that’s a tough one. dynamesh does that sometimes, i think it depends on the thickness of the mesh, dynamesh gets wierd the thinner the mesh is. it’s why i would make each ring a separate mesh. that way you can remesh as you like and then use the clip brush on the top and bottom to get sharp edges back.

Thing is that after dynamesh it tends to add a radius of some sort to perpendicular corners and idk how the cliping brush would work in my case with concentric circles.

in other words you have to start over to do what i suggested. no the clip brush is not going to help with your current mesh.

just going off of that image. you have a base, a circle and another circle on top of that. they can all be separate meshes.

then you can use the clip brush anytime you need to get sharp edges again. you clip the top and bottom of a circle flat, that gives a sharp edge. align the circles as desired.

i don’t see how that can be fixed without as much effort as starting over.

Problem is it needs to be all one mesh so after dynamesh how will they be separate?

turn on groups in dynamesh, that will keep them separate.
