Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan WIP

A start. For reference I used an Machina era picture, for those unfamiliar with SP history, it’s around 1999

hey cherub…dont take offense but how about using the “reply” feature to re post your images. Your hogging the bottom row and deleting stuff others may like to see.

Just a thought…its just good manners really

Come again? Is that the orange button “post reply” at the beginning and at the end of every page of every thread, or the “reply” button at the right corner of every post? Anyways, I never reposted any of my images, it was always a new image. Thanks for your time

P.S. and what if I want you to look at my stuff only?

Why do you use a plane for making likenesses? It’s a valid option, but I find polyspheres far more intuitive. As for your sculpt, it’s coming along pretty well. I would change up the texture to green clay or something, the gel shader or whatever material you’ve got now is a little distracting. Also try pulling and pushing in the forms a bit more, Billy doesn’t have a great deal of depth to his face, but I still think your sculpt is looking a bit flat. Best of luck.

Hi there, thanks for suggestions! I used the plastic white material because of the Glass character, it’s still wip though and probably will finish up with real skin textures and what not anyways. To answer your question about the planes: I like them far better, remind me of my high-school metal modeling form a metal plane. Simply more at home with it. Keep criticizing because I’m too much into it and don’t see a lot of things focusing on others, and making up in my mind for what is not there. Thanks!

btw I enjoy your march to greatness

The likeness is definitely improving. The lips are especially nice.

As for my march, I sometimes regret not just calling it a sketchbook, but I think it gives it some character.

Thanks again man! It’s my first study (well sort of, detailed anyways) of a head in zbrush (it lasts one and a half day now exactly  ), so keep on helping, both approve and disapprove, means a lot! :+1:

cherub…nice to watch your development. You really should try spheres for a head. It will help you a lot. The face you have now still retains the “flat” characteristics of a plane. You will develop more starting from a recognisable head shape.

Also, with respect, do you have to keep on reposting absolutely every stage of everything you do

Thanks for commenting and advice minister! I’ll finish this one as it is, and give polysphere a try in the future.

I’ll post a bunch of work in a single post so I don’t jam the bottom row, no problem :+1:

Here’s a final render of this one (sorry minister, but I work fast  ) I’m continuing with the tutorials of retopology and texturing that I need for my project with a deadline, and perhaps I’ll take this one to another level in the future (or try a new out of polysphere).

It’s far from perfect, but as much as I want to polish BC I gotta do something else right now

Please use the ATN switch to disable images in previous posts when you are posting new images. You are very rude in hogging the bottom row and you have been asked before not to do it. Please be considerate to your fellow artists.
Lemo

I’m not doing it on purpose. I have no idea what nor where the switch you are talking of is. Somebody please explain, I’m sorry. Thanks

Also, how can I delete my own posts, or can I even?

Well said lemonnado.

i tried the polite approach and it didnt work.

Shhhhesh cherub…its really cool to see someones work but must you post absolutely everything???

most of your previous posts just showed different materials…whoooopie doooooo

I never just changed the material. Yes, you’ve been very helpful and polite to explain to me how I’m rude. But I still don’t know what is the ATN switch. This is like Cluedo

OK, mystery solved thanks to lemonnado. I’ll make it public so those of you who don’t know can avoid possible inconveniences: When you upload a new image, edit the post with the previous one that is displayed on the bottom row by renaming the ATT’s around your image file into ATN’s, or rename the new one if you want the old to remain in the bottom row. :+1:
