Smart Resymm problem

pview.JPG

Hello,

I just started using ZB and encountered this problem. I made a basic mesh and had symm on. My model appeared fine when viewed as Zspheres, but when previewing the mesh it was asymmetrical for some reason. SO, I attempted to ctrl select half of the model and smart-resymm, what resulted in the image I have attached.

Am I doing something wrong? Also, how do you deselect the mask I made?

Thank you for the help!

Smart resym still needs an equivalent set of points left and right, which is not the mesh you’re starting with. It looks like you have “twist” (a sphere turned a little on its axis) in one of your body zspheres, so you should resolve that twist there before creating a skin. Use the half light/dark splits to visual inspect your zspheres.

Alternately, generate unified skin, which may turn out more symmetric.

To release mask, either select a mask out in space, off your model, -or- hit the clear button on the masking tab of the tools pallet -or- hit ctrl-shift-A.

Thank you Kerwin, unified skin works a bit better.

It really bugs me still, that I couldn’t make a symmetrical zphere, the green circle appeared, which tells me that it is centered, I tried holding shift, I tried having x symm on…
