Smart ReSym Dead End.

I’m doing some human anatomy studies in zbrush and I’ve encountered a problem with smart Resym. When sculpt detail into my hand, I hide the rest of the body so I can zoom in further. And of course changes I make on the left hand do not carry over to the right. So I try Smart ReSyming from Div 1 all the way to my highest Level. No Matter what I do, verts fly all over the place.

I’ve been mulling around the forums, and I have seen several posts similar to mine. I have yet to find a solution that works. I would think there would have to be a work around for a problem that surely everyone runs into.

For now, I won’t hide the model, keep brush symmetry on and sacrifice the ability to zoom in on those hands and feet. But I would like to find a way to get that symmetry working.

I’m using 3.1 at my university. I don’t think I’ll be able to upgrade if it will solve the problem.

Any suggestions?

you can always delete half of the mesh.
and mirror it.
in 3.5 you can merge these objects…you can in 3.1 as well, but it’s a bitch.
you can also export out the HP mesh and mirror it in another application.

hope this helps.

Are you talking about the mirror option in the Deformations tab? I looked into that, but you have to delete all your Sub D levels to get a mirror if I’m not mistaken.

Exporting into another application is also not ideal, since you change the vertex point order. Which then again leaves you with no Sub D levels when you import it back in.

I appreciate the suggestions though. I guess I just want a smart Resym that works.
