skin opinion

Had what I thought was a good idea, took a digital photograph
of skin, cleaned up minor problems and used it as a texture.
Will upload experimental photo. Does it work?
Forgive the head.

I think it’s a pretty good start. The scale of the texture, compared to the head looks a bit too large. And you would need other subtle details like veins, pores, etc… to make it look more accurately placed on the head. But the actual skin texture looks pretty good to me.

Good overall colour, but it looks too blurred to me. Try adding a bit of noise to the texture, rather than relying on your shader. Make it tile-able and square. There’s a tutorial on making photo-realistic skin in this month’s 3D World magazine, btw. You texture is a good base to work from.

many thanks.

i will make a try friend, but looks Ok¡

Actually I like that base texture. It’s a good place to start.

As Moochie mentioned…it needs a tad more.

I would abuse PS for this with layers. Set up a careful noise layer that you dissolve into the skin, copy and set up a couple more …one for burning detail, one for dodging detail, a couple more for adding color here and there.

having said that, you could probably do alot of the same in zb using layers. Am gonna have to play and see what I can come up with. Hopefully, thanks to you, a fun newbie challenge in the future.

The nice thing about the texture you have given us…is it’s a good place to start and can then be used to personalize per model or a quick standalone.
