Sketchup - ZBrush

Hello all, I’m working with Sketchup as my “hard-edged” modeler so I need to import Sketchup models into Zbrush but the mesh gets screwed up. I did my homework and searched a bit and learned that SU works with triangles instead of quads, now I got 3DS Max and played around with the export options but still no luck, does anyone know how or what program will convert SU models in a way that Zbrush can use them? I’m fairly desperate.

Thank you kindly…

…anyone?

you could try after importing the mesh to make a unifed skin of it, although topology will be bad on that as well it will be better than what you have now.

Is that the only option, there has to be other poeple using this (unusual) program combo, i’ve experimented with no luck, anyone care to help, please?

Thank you.

Tried importing and exporting with Blender?

I downlaoded it because you mentioned it, exported the model from sketchup as 3ds and obj, imported them to blender, exported them as .obj and it’s the same result. Is there some special way?

Well, if exported mesh from ketchup is triangled I guess all you need is to convert triangles into quads.
I belive Max can do that. I belive bledner also  Try that before importing file to ZBrush

I tried every option in Max under “faces” (quads/tris/polys) and they all don’t work. I don’t know what to do.

Talks about how to do it in Blender.

i also found this:

perhaps its best to learn to use blender, max, maya, silo, modo or even zbrush for your mesh making from now on, just a thought

Yeah, he should watch the Architectural Techniques tutorial at:
