Sketches

Hi everyone, I’m new to the community and to ZBrush, actually I’m new to character design/modeling also. My background is in architectural design, so you will have to forgive my learning curve.

I will be posting various models that I have been working on in this thread and would appreciate and critiques and comments that you may have.

The first model is my first attempt at a full figure.

Im diggint it! Right on man!! I cant wait to see the finished product!

CubanB82 - Thanks for the encouragement!

This is an Eeyore scultpt I did to try and play around with wrinkles and parts like the ears. Eeyore is made from Zspheres and the cloud is made from a sphere polymesh.

I think I’m done with the concept. I am going to start detailing him this week.concept_01.jpg

Trying to achieve a cell shaded look. Haven’t done any real highlighting or painting yet but I think the linework is coming along nicely.

That’s a really nice look, I’m a huge lover of cell-shaded works so that’s excellent in my book. What program did you render in to achieve the cell shaded style?

Hey Sean, I’m glad you like the look. I am a huge fan of cell-shading as well. I created the look with XSI and Photoshop. I used some modified steps to a tutorial I found a while ago (I’ll have to do some digging so that I can give them credit). The method seems to produce the best and most consistent results in my short experience.

Thanks for the comment and happy modeling.

I adjusted the way I did the previous cell-shading and was able to do this one all in Z-Brush and Photoshop. Two render passes in Z-Brush with a few effects add in Photoshop.

I started this Nightcrawler sculpt last night. I’ve laid out the basic anatomy and will probably start taking him further a little later this week.
If anyone has tips for doing hair or knows where I can find some good tutorials for it I would appreciate it.
Also since I’m new to anatomy, C&C’s are welcome.

A quick pose.
