Sketchbook - Michael Butcher

Finally getting around to starting a sketchbook

Bare with me as I dump some art to catch up on older work so I can start updating with current WIPs more frequently. Thanks and I hope you follow along!

WIP on pause. Hope to revisit this and do a low-poly + texture with rig and idle and do a nice render in TB3.

A bunch of recent speed Sculpts, all range between 40m - 70m

When I moved to SoCal recently I was doing a bunch of speed sculpts on my Cintiq Companion 2 while I waited for my desktop, but I couldn’t really have reference open at the same time as ZBrush and used the opportunity to challenge my memory. All of the above speed sculpts and this anatomy practice were done to the best of my ability from my brain computer.

This sculpt took closer to 4 hours as it was my first time sculpting a posed figure in asymmetry. Pretty happy with the result and really want to start doing these types of practice sculpts more. This one was done right after I had seen Logan haha

I wasn’t able to finish my entry for the ArtStation Ancient Civilizations:Lost & Found Challenge because I ran up against some old shoulder injuries, but I’m back to my usual stride and planning on finishing up the challenge while I alternate between this character and another.

Here are a bunch of images from my updates during that challenge and where I’m currently at. Still a few meshes to add and a good chunk of polish left before I jump into retopo. First image is the anatomy block-in which has a lot of issues that I corrected later, but don’t have shown in this series.
