Simplebrush question (answered)

Am I doing something wrong? ZBrush 4 default starts simplebrush with no alpha mask and hence just creates rectangles. Once I select an alpha mask everything seems to work fine! Just wondering whether I have an old config file that is upsetting things or whether this is standard behaviour?

Simple answer: that’s the default for the SimpleBrush. Simply select an alpha if you want to use it. Not sure why it is like this but presumably there’s a technical reason.
