Im designing Capt. America’s shield for a calendar project.
Im not trying to polypaint it as yet but rather get the intial stripes and star design on the front of the shield.
Any of the UV options make the texture map impossible to paint in 'shop. UV master doesnt help.
How do I get an easy/simple texture map that would be easy to paint in photoshop - then apply back in zbrush.
Step by step if you would.

set up polygroups for your mesh and use UV master. The front of the shield should be no problem.
you can also use tool.surface to add your rings as well.
