Simple Texture Map

I’m doing some texture mapping of basic household bottled products: Shampoo, peroxide, etc.

I use zbrush to texture in general, but it seems I have to subdivide the mesh many times to achieve semi-clear results. I work in 2048 format for the purpose of high detail textures.

I was wondering: Is there a way simply to bring a model into zbrush and paint directly onto the texture map through the model instead of polypainting and then converting to texture?

For instance, lets say I want to transfer a texture of a logo or perhaps ingredients or product info. Its better to position the bottle and apply the texture directly to the bottle and have the image write directly to the texture, preserving the fine details. Whereas if I do polypaint it will end up as a fuzzy texture.

You can improve the details of your texture when polypainting by subdividing the model a couple of extra times while you paint the model (even if you don’t plan to use the model at that degree of subdivision, the UVs will remain the same.)

Projection Master will let you drop color straight onto a texture without going through polypaint.
