Simple question...Adjust material colour lighter???

Hi all,

I’m sure this is very obvious, but i’ve never been able to work out how to make a material colour lighter than the base colour.

For example… if i sculpt a head and fill it with MatCapSkin04 I can only then paint with that shade or darker for freckles etc. If I want to paint the eyebrows white i have to use another white material which doesn’t look good where the two materials join. How do I keep using the same material but make it lighter than the base shade?

I’m sure it’s a very simple question but can’t seem to find any answers…

Thanks

Actually, let me rephrase the question…

If I make a sphere and fill it with a dark material say MatCap Gorilla. How do I then paint a white line on it , still using the Gorilla material?

When I set the colour picker to white it still paints with the dark gorilla material, and if I switch to a white material instead the edge of the painted stroke is all pixelated.

Ridiculous question I know, but I can’t work it out!

Thanks
