should be super simple question

i have what i think should be a super simple question. here it is.

When I’m in z brush 3.1, and am using the projection master, i use some textures that require being rotated. however not a single one of the 15 strokes (dots, drag rectangle, free-hand, etc.) allow me to do this. even when i hold the left mouse button down. The only way for me to rotate how the texture is applied on the model is to rotate the entire model correctly which can be quite constraining.

well there it is. i thank anybody’s reply in advance.

You can rotate strokes with the R modifier. So if you drag the texture out hit the R key.
There’s also a tutorial at the classroom.

Yes, it’s one of my questions here (Number 8):

We hope people like you and me don’t have acquired the wrong software. Well, I think the best would be we decide it in 3.5 far from now release.

The Directional Brush (see the 2.5D tools in the Tool palette), used with the Drag Rect stroke, allows you to rotate while you draw, or switch to the Rotate Gyro after drawing to reposition.

I admit that I had not happened about try to move, scale or rotate after painting in the Projection Master mode. That was a surprise.

But rotates the stroke, if you draw a single point (with alpha for draw a shape), you cannot rotate, because a stroke from one single point can’t rotate. (So the effect of rotate a single masked point, like the drag rect stroke is unavailable)

thanks about this Marcus.

By the way, when you refer to the “directional brush”, you was referring to the “line stroke”, wasn’t it?. I ask about because you can’t choose any brush in projection master mode.

your confusing the 3d sculpting brushes with the power of 2.5d brushes in the tool pallet. under the tool pallet you will see essentially two types of categories startup 3d meshes, and startup 2.5d brushes the brush you are looking for is under the 2.5d brushes its called the directionbrush also make sure zadd is also turned on if you want to effect deformations on the mesh and under stroke pallet select dragrect and select which alpha shape you want from the alpha pallet which will enable you to place the alpha and rotate the alpha for optimal placement. and when you pick up from projection master make sure you have deformations checked. also another thing you should know is disable perspective and switch to orthographic before you drop the mesh in projection master other wise your deformations will not conform to the mesh. i hope that helps a bit if you want to know more about the process in which this is used this may interest you.

Ok!, now I see. Thanks for the trick to both!.

You’re confusing sculpting brushes (in the Brush palette) with 2.5D painting brushes (in the Tool palette).

When you’re in Edit mode, you can use items from the Brush palette, but not from the Tool palette. When you’re in 2.5D such as with a model dropped via Projection Master, you can use stuff from the Tool palette, but not from the Brush palette.

The Directional Brush is a 2.5D brush found in the Tool palette.
