Shift Smooth with Fast Mallet

Hi, asked around work and no one knew nor could I find it here (seems to be many other SHIFT/SMOOTH related questions…

I was wondering how to assign the SHIFT key to obey the smooth function with all brushes.

Currently if I press SHIFT while using Fast Mallet it seems to do the oposite. This also happens with other brushes.

Cheers

When you hold SHIFT you are temporarily using the Smooth brush and it’s modifiers, but the Draw mode switches (M, RGB, MRGB, ZSub, ZAdd) will stay the same. In this case, using the MalletFast brush, you will have ZSub enabled which does not go well with the smooth brush.

The solution is to either hold ALT + SHIFT to reverse the ZSub draw mode or set all your brushes to use ZAdd.

Although it will not help you in this case it is worth mentioning that you can set your secondary brush by holding SHIFT and clicking one of the brush icons. This brush will now be activated when holding SHIFT.

Ahh, of course!!

Thanks again for your help TVEYES, I knew it had to be a simple answer, I just couldnt see it. Its been bugging me for ages:o

Cheers
