Two questions re: Shadowbox

Is there any way, other than by trimming or size deformation, to control the thickness of the object created by the masks? Can you use a slider to set how thick it will be when initially generated?

Also, is there a way a way to make the top and/or bottom surfaces flat rather than the soft pillow roundness? Trying to flatten these with the flatten deformer is messy. I’d really like to find a way to have them flat right from the get go.
