Shadowbox Issue: Creating Mask by Alpha Image

Hi,

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’m trying to create a badge type object with shadowbox. I choose maskrect and with the alpha of the shape I want I hold ctrl and drag on the wall of the shadowbox - but it just creates a rectangle.

If I simple draw a mask on the wall of the shadowbox it works fine - it just doesn’t seem to be using the alpha I have loaded.

Any ideas where I’m going wrong with this?

Thank you!

First of all, make sure you select your alpha while holding down Ctrl. Start to draw the alpha off of the Shadowbox, then while still holding down Ctrl, press Spacebar to move it over the Shadowbox. Let go of Spacebar, but not Ctrl, to resize. Press Spacebar again if you need to move it again. When satisfied, let go of Ctrl. Just remember that Ctrl has to be held down all the time until your done.

For me works if I use default maskpen (no maskrect) for brush and then I use rect for stroke and the desired alpha for alpha .
No need to keep ctrl when dragging with space as long I press space before releasing ctr, otherwise only will draw a rectangle.

Hey thanks! I finally noticed that when I pressed ctrl the alpha was “off” even tho I had just set it - I had to set the alpha while I was still pressing ctrl to get it set for the masking. Apparently there is a brush alpha and a mask alpha. TIL! Now it works!

Thanks for the replies!!
