ok, so heres my spex first off:
p4 ht 3.0ghz
1.5gb ram
radeon 4650 hd w/1g ram
and i have a wacom tablet
so zbrush is running fine. but i know it can do better. anyone suggest how to get it setup to look/function better?

you can customize the interface to whatever works best for you. I have found that in different situations I prefer a different UI…sculpting, painting, topo, etc.
There is a thread on here somewhere with custom UI set ups that people have uploaded. If you do some searching you’ll find it.

ok i geuss i should be a little more specific, im looking to set up my preferences (max poly count etc) to boost the quality of the work im producing, i cant get my models resolution high enough to satisfy myself…
The max poly is set to what your system can handle. If you’re going to change it don’t do more than double…but you’re going to see quite a bit of slowdown. To get the most out of zbrush from your system you need to take advantage of subtools so you can divide your models to the resolution that you want.
1.5gb of ram…hmm. I’m not sure where to put an odd number like that. mem should probably be a little under 1k.
To get the most out of Zbrush you basically need more ram to support higher polycounts and not receive any slowdown. Ram is like $20 a dimm right now.
