hello all,
is it possible to set up custom paths in zbrush?
I want import to be a certain folder on my hdd
and ztools to be my ztools folder
instead of it remembering the path I last used. it makes switching back and forth from importing and loading ztools a real pain.

Hi there … to be honest, i don’t know and i really don’t wanna mess around too much in my ZFolders. What i did was placing Shortcuts to all my personal folders within the main ZBrush Folder. Like that i have direct access to everything through Lightbox.

That would be nice, but as far as I know its not possible. I think dsoellbuster’s way is about as good as it gets for now.
I wish pixologic would do something similar to Max and Maya where you can set paths for just about everything.
lol i am really trying not to complain about the things that are not working properly within R3. Because in the end ZBrush is just such an exceptional piece of software, that i really try to overlook the bad parts.
My question is just: do they really have to invent EVERYTHING from scratch. I mean sometimes it is definitely better too “steal” something well done, than to create something from scratch that in the end was not worth the effort. (First rule of advertising) 
Anyways in the case of Lightbox it really took me some time to understand how it works and now i love it, with the only exception that you can’t navigate through your entire computer. It just stops at the program files folder.

I guess Ill have to make shortcuts until pixologic comes up with such a feature(if ever :rolleyes:)
would something like this be possible with zscript? I have basic maxscript experience for things like this and maybe learning alittle zscript will help? I’ve never looked into zscript so im not sure what its capable of
I had high hopes for Lightbox, but that fact that I cant add or change the location of the folders made it worthless for production pipelines.
yeah i know what you mean. It is nice and flashy to navigate with lightbox but it isn’t faster. The good thing tho is that you get PSD Previews. The other bad thing is … still no obj preview. I still have high hopes that with the release of ZB4 it will be the same thing as with GoZ or the ZProject Brush. It’s all there but it won’t fully work before ZB4.
btw sasquatchpoacher i really loved your Rollergirl!!! One of the best pieces i have seen so far.

Ha ha ha … just realized that you are on 3.1 :rolleyes: We were talking about 3.5. Man 2 totally blind guys trying to help. :lol:
Anyway, the problem in the end stays the same. At least in 3.1 remembers the last folder you opened, 3.5 doesn’t do that either. So the solution i guess would be the same. Shortcuts!
