Separate meshes from maya to Zbrush

Hope you guys can help. Say i am going to make a low poly mesh in maya ready to import in Zbrush. What if the mesh in maya is made up of different parts - say, 1 for the main body, 1 for a hat, 1 for a jacket, 1 for eyes etc. How do I go about having all these separate in Zbrush for sculpting?

DO I need to import all separate meshes separately or all as one obj file? Please help

It’s really going to depend on exactly what you are wanting to do with you
mesh. But the way i would recommend for you is to

1.Export each mesh as a seperate .obj file.
2.Then go into Zbrush and import each .obj seperately.
3.Select your main obj and go into EDIT-Mode.
4.Go to Tool/Subtools and click Append and choose one of the obj files you imported.
5.Repeat step 4 until all the obj files are added as Subtools.

When you want to get them back to Maya, simply choose which
obj you want to export from the Subtool menu and choose Export.

It even keeps up with the position/orientation of each obj so that they will
be placed the same in Zbrush as they are in Maya and vice-versa.
Hope it helps…

That response is more than sufficient, just what I was looking for, I really appreciate it, thanks.
