Self-Portrait

My wife and I did a Renaissance wedding; this is me in the outfit that I wore for the ceremony. The image is an older piece that I recently revised.

Beautiful Painting! Love the green texture and the gold in the bg. Love the black floral satin coat. The face is very well modeled and textured as are the hands. Very rich feeling. :+1: :+1:

Does Google do Latin translations?

This is similar to an earlier
self-portrait done by a ZBrush user.

Thanks for the comments, all! The latin phrase is “amor vincit omnia,” or “love conquers all.” That lettering runs in a circle around the outside of our wedding bands (which are reproductions of a 15th century ring).

@ Felderin

I am not the first to ask, so: could you - please - give us some hints, a short “making of”??
Thank you!

I’d be happy to post some tips (though not a full tutorial; that would be very lengthy for this image, which took me about 30 hours to make), as soon as I am done with finals for my fall quarter at school. Only a week and a half to go…

OMG I don’t know how I missed this.
This is wondeful work felderin. I have some questions but can’t give them now…I an at work and really busy…
Awesome stuff man! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Fantastic work… wow… Bravo !

Holy moly  incredible work!

Excellent modelling and texturing throughout. The fabric of the blouson in particular is really exceptional. :+1: :+1: :+1:

WOW !!. Really nice -understatement of the century- work…and I’m behind in line with the others who asked about the technique you used…cos this is exactly what I’m looking for. So waiting patiently.
And good luck on your finals.

The mix of materials is fantastic. Well done all round. I missed this when it was first posted.

Wonderfull work!

The left forearm has an unnatural curve as if it is made of rubber tho. The sort of effect you see often in poser compositions.

Well done.

Really SUPERB !!! :+1: :+1: :+1:
