Selecting tools on canvas

Hey, I’ve started playing around with creating tiled textures in zbrush using canvas + ~.

Is there a way once I’ve dropped several tools on the canvas to selected them individually after they have dropped? I can rotate, move, scale the last tool i dropped but can’t seem to re-select previous ones.

i’ve attached an image so help clarify my question

i think u will have to pickup the objects again ( come out of projection master) and select the subtool and go back into projection mode. ithis the only solution i think

I believe that once you’ve dropped a tool to the canvas, it becomes for all intents unmanipulable. What you need to do is create all the bricks as separate subtools. This was one of the things that I had to get used to with ZBrush’s paradigm. Another option is to use GoZ. Finally, you can create your wall in another application, export the entire thing to ZBrush and then work on it.

When working in 2.5D you need to use the Layers panel (not tool.layer).
This way you can set each “stamp” as a layer which can be manipulated or removed if needed.

Once something is dropped to canvas, that is all you get. If you have another tool selected, or drop anything else, then there it is. The only way to remove your brick is to erase it. If you had been working in layers you could simply delete it, or move the entire layer.

You can also use markers. It was the only way to work with multiple tools
before subtools.

wow! thanks for the replies! I’m going to give your recommendations a try.

@gdkvisions : i just want to mention that i’m not in projection master. I’m just not in edit mode. I’m drawing new subtools on the canvas.

when you draw multiple subtools on the canvas only the most recent one you add will be editable, ever. The idea is draw… edit … pose… drop to canvas… draw edit pose drop to canvas…

you really should only drop multiple subtools to canvas once each subtool is complete, saved as seperate ztls and ready to be arranged in a scene otherwise you can only edit things using 2.5d tools
