I’m trying to link numerous subtools without merging.
I could really use some help with this. Is this possible?
Nope…and Yes.
Zbrush sees each subtool as a single object and Zbrush can only manipulate a single object.
If you want to interact with more than one subtool at a time you have to merge them.
You can always separate them after you’re done with your edits.
Subtool Master and Transpose Master are two plugins that are made to help with this.
The real question is why don’t you want to merge them?
In 4R8 you can move multiple subtools by selecting “transpose all selected subtools” in the 3d gizmo’s menu. You then have to mask the subtools out that you don’t want to move. Seems a bit cumbersome… maybe there’s an easier way?
Ah ok, when you have the “transpose all selected subtools” selected, you can deselect or select subtools by holding down ctrl+shift or ctrl+alt+shift just like when hiding or showing parts of your mesh.
