Selected model to be transparent to view Reference image behind

Hey guys I don’t know how to phrase the subject header.

I have a reference image to model to and match, there are multiple subtools. The selected tool isn’t transparent but the rest are. Is there a way to make the selected subtool similar so that I can see the reference image behind and model to match.

I googled and the solutions don’t seem to work. Please help, thank you so much.

try turning off ghost under trans

I tried turning off the ghosting button. It didnt work.

i’ve included a screenshot that I hope better illustrates my problem. The selected subtool is the non-tranparent one. Thank you for the help everyone

oh and I am using a floor grid image so that the reference image sticks to the model even if I moved the camera.

I just found out that if I use image plane, the selected object becomes the transparent one but the issue is that if I rotated, the reference image does not remain in the same place.

If you are using an image on the grid then you use the Draw palette Fill Mode slider to adjust opacity. See here:
