Cntrl>Shift and clicking on an edge used to select a ring in 3.5r. This was great for setting up edge loops etc.
Is it gone in 4.0 or is there a new method.

GOod Question! I had to look and figure that out cause that was a cool feature. Still is. In order to select a row of polys (edge loop) you need to use the select lasso which is now a brush. So find the brush in the palete and then do the cntrl + shift + left click on a edge that is on a edge loop.
Yes, as slickytom says, you just have to have the SelectLasso brush selected for Ctrl+Shift+clicking on an edge. This is essentially the same as in 3.5 when you had to have Lasso on.
