This is my first post here. Is there a way to reverse the “Select lasso” so that it will not erase everything outside? I want to keep everything outside and erase the thing I am selecting with the lasso.

If I understand your question all you need to do is hold the Alt key this will change the color of your selection area to red indicating it will be the part that is hidden.
