Seamless Tiles

One of my favorite features of Zbrush is how easy
it has always been to create seamless tileable textures.

The method i use is

1.Spray center, slide left or right with tilda key until
Center is split.“Showing on both sides of document”.

2.Spray center, slide up or down with tilda key until
Center is split.“Showing on both sides of document”.

Being very careful not to overlap border.
You get the idea.

But i am having problems trying to do this now.
I have tried everything i know to do but there is a
border that shows up everytime i try to capture the doc.
Can someone please tell me why GrabDoc/MRGBZgrabber
is leaving me with this nasty border…

Thanks so much in advance…

I’m still trying to figure this out…
I tried to search the forums for this topic but
can’t seem to find anything…

Good day
all you have to do is hite Bast Rander up in the manu and it will tack the line away for you…

Which version/platform are you currently using? I tried to reproduce on Vista 64 with 3.5r3, without luck. Do you get the same effect after you re-render (Moshe’s suggestion)?

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Maybe i’m making some other mistake then…

Inside Zbrush i set the canvas to 512x512.
Spray in the center of document making sure i don’t run off the edge.
Slide the canvas to the right so that spray appears on both sides of canvas.
Spray center.
Slide up and spray the center.
Slide right 1 more time and spray center.
I have tried using MRGBZgrabber or Grabdoc from texture palette.
Then i set the image as a desktop background “tiles”.

The only way i can get this to be seamless is to turn shadows completely off.

Shaded without rendering…

Ah, I think I get in now. You have to be real careful about shadows if your “sun” is not close to straight above the canvas . . .

Why? Because the bottom and right would not cast shadows on to the top and left, example. This is going to leave a visual discrepancy or seam in your otherwise seamless texture.

One way to get around this is to use matcaps rather than rendered shadows. Since they are material illusions, rather than casting shadows adjacent, they won’t create a seam. Otherwise, keep the sun is fairly high and centered.

HTH,

Hey, thanks for trying to help.
But i still am having this same issue no matter what i do to the light.
I have been trying my best to locate where the issue is coming from
so i can be sure it’s not something stupid i am doing to cause it.

I noticed that by changing the borderColor1 to anything other than
the default will reveal this strange borderEdge as shown in the screenshot
below. Zbrush lights seem to have no effect on this borderEdge. Grabdoc
and MRGBZ Grabber both capture this edge.

Best Render makes this borderEgde disappear but GrabDoc &
MRGBZ Grabber still captures the identical looking edges.

Please any input is greatly appreciated.
