By the way, anyone else having problems opening Scultris Alpha 6 (Windows 7)?
Unfortunately it always crashs immediately.
I uninstalled and installed it again but it still doesn`t work.
Ok I sort of got it, I dont quite grasp #3 and part of #4 āhave import settings-tri to quad onā.
But I did get some results and I think I can improve them a lot as I missed a step I think, the subdivide bitā¦
These are tools I havenāt done much with and havenāt got a good understanding of yet. (not subdivide, I push that past its limit all the time! hehe!)
I think that this problem is 100% fixable, I also think that someone with a little more experience and knowledge than me is going to have a bit more success than I am at least for nowā¦ however, Im going to keep working one it:
This was a Sculptris Object:
GRIN!!!
I love this, Im having way too much fun
Must be select systems. Iām running it on a Core i7-980x. No problems with hyper-threading on my end. Sculptris runs just fine, even with the affinity for CPU0 - CPU11 all turned on. If anything, Alpha6 runs a bit faster than Alpha5.
My only issue is that Sculptris complains when more than 24 edges are connected to a single point. This is a problem that shows up when you GoZ a Sphere from ZBrush. (Doesnāt happen consistently, oddly enough.)
BTW, my system specs are.
Iām already incorporating it into my toy and statue sculpting workflowā¦itās fantastic. Works great on tessellated scan and voxel generated triās. Dynamic tessellation is nothing short of revolutionary in my little corner of the digital world. Cannot wait for this to develop further. I recall the last build had file size limitations and havenāt really gone there yet to push it but all in all, I am really, really happy with this.
Sculpts buttery smooth and clean.
Great stuff.
Had to reinstal my pc so now Sculptris wont run Win7 64bit
I get this error:

Thank you !!!
is symetry still a one way operation?
From my understanding Windows 7 has special hyperthreaded optimization routines that previous versions of windows do not enjoyā¦ which would likely make the difference. I do intend to upgrade my OS but right now I am in the middle of a long project where I cannot.
Loving sculptris, Especially now that the controls are like Zbrush.
Canāt wait for an AutoRetopolgy tool built into GoZ to get from triās to quads.
Off track question. Can a mesh composed of triangles be printed?
About smoothing:
Go to Transform and deselect Quick 3D Edit
Go to Display Properties and play with the Draw Smoothness Tolerance, Draw Resolution and Edge Smoothness slider.
Keep it smooth
I would LOVE to see Sculptris as an XBox gameā¦ where you could sculpt with the connect on your 3D TV panelā¦ or use NVidiaās 3DTV Play to sculpt on your TV Using something like the Kinect you could actually sculpt with your fingers!
Great! Got me all excited, then send me an email with an HTML link that wonāt show up on my email server. Canāt download the freakinā program:mad:
It already works on the macā¦ I have been using it with goz and zbrush no issue.
Mike
Thanks Mike I just got that Upā¦Best:)
Did you check your spam folder?
testing sculptris, AWESOME!
BUT, how do I get brushes for sculptris? Looked around and searched forums a bit, no apparent solution. UNLESS its the obvious one, which is make your ownā¦
Asking here 1st.
ā¦ok got it, no other format then jpg for brushes? Imagined jpg would be suboptimal since itĀ“s a destructive format.
Easy:
Its fun.
Its easy to use.
Its easy to learn.
Its fast as heck.
It has object movement tools that are obvious and intuitive and MUCH easier.
I can whip something up in Sculptris in minuets that would take hours in Zbrush.
It adds geometry on the fly as I need it and when I want to get rid of some I can do so with ease (no retopo, just erase polygons, either en-mass or with a brush).
It is the perfect compliment to Zbrush cause you can whip something up in Sculptris and then refine it in Zbrush till its got all of the tiny stuff you need.
AND ONE MORE THING:
It has NO EDIT BUTTON.
With GoZ (which I cant get to work yet) you will be able to hop back and forth with out thinking twice about it.
Hows that? I can come up with more reasons if you like.I got Sculptris and learned it in an afternoon, after a month or so I got Zbrush and have been learning that since, I love both and spend as much time as I can working in both. Sculptris and Zbrush are very different and compliment each other, its like how paint makes a paintbrush more useful.
Cheers!

thank you for the explanation, I think now Im going to try sculptris!
GRIN!
Good thing I wasent describing plutoniumā¦ Im glad your giveing it a look, its very nice.
A quick update however, I got GoZ working a very short time after posting that, it works great and is terrific fun zapping back and forth.
Cheers!
