sculpt question

In image “A” I have a problem area that I would like to clean up. In image “B” I cleaned up the problem area in Photoshop, but that is what I am after.

I would like to make the rail or sill here have a consistent contour found on the front and the back indicated by green contour lines. I am wondering if you can sample a contour and use it like the planar where once it is sampled I can just run it back and forth and it will either remove or add to match the sampled contour. I remember a function that did this in Freeform. It would be nice if the planar line tool would sample the size of your brush and use that as a contour. Does ZB3.5 already do this and i am just an idiot?

Might there be a better forum for this question?

Should I change this into a feature request? this would be real helpful in modeling cars.

If I understand correctly, you’re sort of looking for a brush that will sample what’s there and then reproduce that contour along a stroke such a s planer-line brushes. I don’t think there is an all-in-one solution, but a possible approach would be to sample/capture the existing contour as alpha and then use that alpha with line-based brush. An alpha can be quickly captured from the object filling the canvas using the “GrabDoc” button from the alpha pallet (just adjust your display until whatever you want to capture fills the screen.)

It might be worth a feature request for a contour/alpha selecting brush.

Thanks Kerwin. I am going to try this.
