Sculpt history question

I know about ZB layers, however, I wanted to ask if its possible to remove sculpt history from a specific region while keeping the rest of the sculpt history in tact.

Something similar:

-Store a morph target.
-Sculpt changes.
-Mask over the changes you want to keep.
-Use the Morph slider in the Morph Target menu.

Using layers is a similar process: (Need the “Morph Target” menu and the “Layers” menu open.)

-Delete your morph target if you have one, just so we have a clean slate to work from.
-Move your layer slider to zero. This should give us the original version of the model with no layer sculpting data.
-Store a morph target.
-Move your layer slider back to 1. ***If you miss this step, the next two will destroy your work. Be careful.***
-Mask out what ever layer sculpting you want preserved.
-Use the Morph slider in the Morph Target menu.
