I guess I should just start a sketch book instead of doing a bunch of posts ( I rarely post…how am I kidding?).
Hopefully I will begin to post more stuff!

Ok…
Hear we go.
This is just a small example of the work that I did on “Pirates of the Caribbean, on stranger tides”
It was a perfect example of how Hollywood works. We (legacy Effects} were brought on to design mermaids and zombies, sounds fun, right?
We met with the “decision makers” and we were off…
We did literally hundreds of designs over two months, and not one of them was met with anything warmer than " that’s not the pirates movie I’m making here"…Oh well.
I still feel that myself ,Simon Webber and Ian Joyner did some pretty cool work, although I think between “I am number 4” and “Pirates” Simon was about to look for a different field of employment:lol:.
Our job is ultimately to serve production and the directors vision, and if they aren’t feelin it, show your friends, and have a laugh…
Here ya go friends!
All of this was zbrush and photoshop
Amazing stuff here… Top row please…
Can’t seem to get them to show full size…?
Sorry for the thumbnails…

These are all really great. It must really sucked doing great work like this, and have the"Decision makers" go next!.
How long do you spend roughly on each design? When working at a place like Legacy how many of these are you suppose to pump out a day? Are you guys giving like drawings to work in certain directions? Or just kind of wing it? Great work again i always look forward to seeing your stuff.
Great work!
I’ve wasted my life…!
great stuff Scott. Thank you for putting these up.
Paul
ps
Post your stuff Simon

Nice!!! It is a bummer when you really get into a design “theme”, then the production declines the efforts. At least you were paid to do what you love doing. How long were you employed on the film?

Ooops! I now just noticed the 2 months time frame…:o

I love when some of this guys post this kind of stuff that makes us feel like pure ****. It’s inspiring. Top row, mods, please.
Hi Scott,

See you later.
Emmanuel.
Thanks for sharing Scott!
Cool stuff.
Nothing worse than working in an environment of “I don’t know what I want, but I’ll know when I see it.”
Fantastic work, thanks for sharing. The second mermaid is beautiful!
Scott your stuffs amazing,
youve been a real inspiration over the years,
infact the first image on my thread was created following your 3D character design lecture.
Keep those magic fingers sculpting.
