Scorpion Soldier(GULA)

Hi everybody!*

While I was reading Mesopotamias on a site, I saw goddess and Gula.
I was impressed and decided to redesign Gula, the Scorpion soldier. I’ve been working on this model for 3 weeks. First, I drew the concept art and did the basic modelling in Maya. After exportied to Zbrush for elaboration. Finally, finising in ZBrush, I brought in maya for rigging, lighting and render. I’m going to make other equestrian warriors in similar fighting poses in order to show the scorpion man’s height (which I imagine to be about 3 metres). The original Zbrush model is 30 million quad polygon, while the maya model is 50,000 quad polygon.

All images are 100% Mental Ray’s render. No manipulation or effects in Photoshop.

Nice detailed & modeled! I like it, 5*

very cool design! I especially like how you worked on the armor to be integrated with the scorpion body.

very nice work

Great Work Ahmet! five star for me! :sunglasses: :+1:

excellent model, reminds me some movie :+1: :+1: :+1:

absolutely awesome! I love the armor, was it done outside of zbrush and then imported in or did you do a mesh extraction?

one quick question for the pros here: Whenever I do a mesh extraction, the edges look real bumpy and it’s difficult to get a real fine smooth edge on there, got any suggestions? What I’ve mainly been doing is using lazymouse with smooth and then finishing with the pinch tool to get the edge but i’m not totally satisfied with the results.

why so many polygons ? Just wandering. Nice model and render by the way

I want display this model’s stages.
I seldom use the mesh extraction. Usually I make base mesh in Maya, create uv map and export to Zbrsuh. This method is slowly, but very controlled.

Wow, fantastic work Ahmet…well done!!!
(It’ll be cool to make some action shot with this scorpion soldier, I think…)

Hi Ahmet Arif! Thanks for sharing your techniques and about your latest render test … very good… !!!
Only my two cents about it… You should try to add some enviroment elements like column and a stones ground… just for give to your Creature a set…

Anyway Bravo! :+1:

Thank you Piz. I think you are right. I can make two compasition. Gula and goddes or Gula and other equestrian warrior in similar fighting poses and very detailed environment. I should draw concept of enfironment and goddes. But I want make a new character. Im going to work again next month for scorpionsoldier.

bye
