Hey, all…looking for some help/advice on dealing with a scan.
I have a scan of a hand-sculpted, blown-mold vinyl toy that isn’t quite symmetrical.
The scan data is pretty decent but still requires some noise clean-up, general smoothing, and reconstruction of some small detail that the scan didn’t catch.
I’m familiar with the decimate/remesh/projection workflow, but I want to split the model and mirror it to get symmetry. The problem, though, is that each piece is uniquely asymmetrical. My first though was to chop it into 6 separate tools (head, arms, legs, torso), do the clean-up on each piece, then rejoin them at the end.
Is this the way to go? I’m concerned about what might happen if I need different subD levels between pieces and if there could be remeshing issues if I re-join them at the end of the process.
And this will be animated, too, in case that matters.
Thanks!
