Scaling up == losing detail.

I started working on my character at a very small scale in Maya. I recently scaled him up to ~150cm real world values. I’d like to reimport my new scaled up base mesh into Zbrush to fix the scale.

When I do this I lose all of my sculpted information.

I’ve tried:

  • A straight up import into lowest sub-d
  • Transpose scale up subtool to match appended scale
  • Deformation size

Is there anyway I can scale up and retain detail?

I’m not sure. You could try scaling the highest subdivision level larger before you go to level 1 and import the new version to finalize the scale.

I ended up importing the low rez to get the Scale/offset numbers. Then exporting the highest level w/ the Scale. And then importing the highest level in to get the scale. Basically the scale fix you posted in the other large thread used a little differently.
