Scaling issue on Import and Export?!?!?!?!

Not sure if anyone else is getting this problem, but lately I’ve been getting it alot, and it’s really ticking me off. I’ve been using Zbrush for a long time now and I’ve never had this problem with other versions of Zbrush, seems to be just 3.5 R3 for me.

Not sure whats going on but when I export one of my sub tools to Maya, fix what needs to be fixed in Maya, then re-import that tool back into Zbrush the scaling is all messed up, it’s either super huge or crazy ass small, it doesnt match up too all my other Sub tools.

The problem is also vice versa. Say I export a few sub tools from Zbrush, like a Head, Torso, Hands, and Legs. And Import these tools into Maya, some of the tools are much larger and dont match up to the rest of the tools in Maya. Liek the Head would be 10X the size of everything else.

Whats the deal? anyone know what might be happening? or is this just some stupid R3 bug? Sure hope there’s a fix for this, cause it’s super annoying having to rescale my tools back into place all the time, plus it wastes a **** load of time.

in 3.5 you need to check the export options in the tool panel.
for some reason 3.5 doesn’t default to a scale of 1.
before you import and export make sure that settings is at 1 and you should be all set.

also make sure you’re using subtool master when importing new geo into a tool. it will use the main tools scale for the import and export settings…at least I think that’s what it is doing.

This is a really strange issue.

Personally i’ve never had that problem. Same with the merge function on im- or export. I am using Lightwave and since i am using R3 never had a single communication problem.

Looking through all the posts on ZBC it really seems to be a workflow issue.

Looks like my workflow somehow doesn’t bring up that issue. Still trying to figure out when exactly ZB is messing those scale numbers up.
