Scaling a subtool (or visible polygroups) around the local selected geometry centre?

Hi all, probably a real dumb question here!

You know when you have a subtool or visbile polygroup and you scale it with the scale deformation tool - it scales and moves with reference to the the zbrush world centre. Well if you have a tool that has already been moved this can be a pain so is there a way I can scale a subtool or viisble polygroup with reference to the selected geometry centre rather than the world centre?

Sure there’s a way but beats me! Guess I’m looking for a similar function to the local symmery button - but for the use of the locally selcted geometry!

Thanks for any pointers
Steve

transform.s pivot (set pivot)

Temporarily moves the object to world center.

transform.c pivot (clear pivot)

Returns object to previous location.

Thank you! Much appreciated

Justg another question leading on from this, whilst this works it kind of only solves half the problem. I often seem to want to transform an object whilst it is in it’s current location - so I can scale/transform etc whilst using other sub-ttols as reference for the amount of transformation, lining up and scaling to just the right amount etc. So I guess I am asking is it possible to move the world coordinates origin to the centre of selected geometry rather than actually moving the geometry?

Basically I want to do a local transform in place without the need to move my subtool!

Am I being greedy

Am I missing the point!!?

Thx
Steve

It sounds to me like you want to use the action/transpose line instead of deformers.
If there is a way to get an object to use local based deformations without using S and C pivot I have no idea how…or have forgotten…either way, doesn’t really help you.

remembered…

you’ll need to use transpose master
make your sculpt one mesh using transpose master
hide everything but what you want to scale.
use S pivot
mask your object
unhide all geo
invert mask
use deformers as you’d like.
unmask all
C pivot
leave transpose master.

Or just use the action line.

Hi there, sorry for the delay in replying - thank you so much for this - I will give this a bash
