Scaling a mesh loses finer detail?

So here is my problem.

I’ve sculpted a figure in zbrush to a fine level of detailing. Stupidly, I failed to check the scale in another program. So when I brought it back into Maya I found that the mesh is incredibly small - so small it’s a little difficult to work on in Maya.

So no worries I thought - I increased the scale of the mesh in Maya and reimported into zbrush. It worked - but I noticed that my mesh was blurred slightly. I checked a screenshot of the older version to be certain and sure enough the finer detail had been lost.

I thought maybe this was because of the re-importing - so I manually scaled the mesh inside of zbrush and got the same results.

Am I SOL on this? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
