scale problem with obj import from LW?

Hi ZB’ers! Newly registered user here, and one of my first experiments was to import a low resolution LW mesh as an obj file into zbrush for detailing. I’ve found that when trying to draw or move points around on my mesh that the pointer was covering a much broader area than what it’s draw size should have been allowing. I pretty much reduced my draw size and z intensity to 1 in order to get decent results but for finer details the results were still a bit too sloppy for my liking.

The brush and brush controls work just fine when I edit a 3d sphere from scratch in Zbrush so I’m assuming I’m doing something wrong when I import naturally. =]

I searched this forum for a similar topic but didn’t find anything related and didn’t see anything in the manual so I thought I’d ask here. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I’d be happy to send along the lw file if someone wanted to test it themselves too.

I’ve had the same problem. As far as I can understand when you put an object on the canvas it is merely an instance of your original object. Meaning that no matter what size you scale to using the gyro/edit mode, the draw size/Z intensity will have the same effect. What you need to do, with some objects, is use the Tool :small_orange_diamond:Modifiers :small_orange_diamond:Deformation :small_orange_diamond:Size to scale your object either larger or smaller(in most cases larger). That should make the draw size/Z intensity work more like you want it. Worked for me hope it works for you.

oh and welcome aboard :+1:

Excellent! Thanks abunch TVeyes! I’ll give it that a shot.

Worked like a charm! =D
And thanks for the welcome. Can’t wait to get my hands REALLY dirty with this. =]
